Have you ever wondered what it means to flourish? To feel empowered in your personal, professional, and social life? To have better physical and mental health? 🧠
In this unique online course, psychologist Dr Ben Gibson will introduce you to the building blocks of wellbeing and give you the tools to change your behaviour, reduce stress, and find meaning in the everyday. Using theory, interactive activities, group conversations, and proven ‘do-them-at-home’ psychological interventions, we’ll look at what it means to develop a true sense of ‘wellbeing literacy’.
Course overview:
• Upon signing up, you’ll receive a Teams link to an online session hosted on Monday the 13th January (between 2-4pm).
• The session will work a little bit like an online seminar, and interaction is encouraged (even if it’s just saying a few things in chat!).
• Following the session, the Teams chat will remain open for a period of 6-weeks, during which time group support will be available.
• In addition, each Monday (over that 6-week period), a new psychological intervention will be delivered by Dr Gibson in chat, alongside a video detailing the intervention’s importance to wellbeing and how to perform it from the comforts of your own home.
About the organiser:
Dr Ben Gibson is a lecturer at DMU, a BPS chartered psychologist, and a trainee health psychologist (more about what this means here and here). He has a background in developing and evaluating interventions for a host of people, including children, teens facing school exclusion, university students, and adults with and at-risk of diabetes. His academic profile can be viewed here.
Please note: This course is not designed to substitute therapy, counselling or any other forms of one-to-one support. If you are struggling with your mental health, you should contact your GP or the NHS 111 service in the first instance. DMU also offer resources and appointment options and you can find out more about those here.
